It began with warm Alabama summer nights, card games that stretched late into the evening, and the sound of laughter echoing through a backyard.

Juanita Treadwell, my grandmother, was the kind of woman who made hosting look effortless. She was sharp, funny, always impeccably dressed, and somehow able to make every person in the room feel seen.
Her home was never just a house. It was a gathering place.
There were backyard barbecues, spontaneous celebrations, and friends who felt more like family. I remember the hum of conversation over cards being shuffled, bursts of laughter, and her unmistakable laugh cutting through it all. Joyful, full, and contagious.

Juanita loved people. She loved bringing them together. And she believed that moments shared around a table mattered.
